Trail Work Day | Pisgah Area SORBA

Join Dirt Skrrts at a trail work day with Pisgah Area SORBA!

Dirt Skrrts and Pisgah Area SORBA will be doing some much needed work on the Fletcher Creek trail in North Mills River, which is accessed by many user groups. We will be doing a mix of drain clearing, brushing, and clean-up as needed. Thank you for the help.

What to Bring
Required: Long pants, boots that cover your ankles, gloves, water, lunch, snacks, hardhat (bike helmets DO NOT count, but climbing helmets do), safety glasses (sunglasses DO count). Note: Hardhats, gloves and safety glasses can be provided if needed.

When
Saturday, February 24 from 10am - 3pm

Where:
We’re meeting at the Trace Ridge trailhead. We will shuttle in 2–3 vehicles down to the Reservoir. How to get there? Just before you reach the North Mills Rec area campground, hang a right onto FR 5000. There's a gate, and it's not well-signed. After a couple miles, you'll reach the Wash Creek Horse Camp and a fork in the road. There is limited parking here, and it might be busy enough to make the next turn difficult to see. Keep left and cross the stream. You'll drive past a few roadside campsites before you reach the Trace Ridge trailhead/parking area.

How to Register
Sign ups are limited to 20 volunteers. If, for some reason, you can't make the trail day after RSVP'ing, please delete your name to allow others an opportunity to come out in your place. If you cancel for a non-emergency reason within 48 hours of the event, we request you donate $10 to Pisgah Area SORBA by clicking here. You can make changes to your registration by following the registration link below.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact PAS Trail Crew Leader Tyler Donaldson using the contact button at the registration link below.

Building Resilience On and Off the Bike

Learn from a professional, licensed counselor on ways to build resiliency, conquer your fears, and step out of your comfort zone on the trails.

Are you wanting to feel more confident and less afraid on your bike?  During this event, we will learn ways to build resilience so you can find more joy and ride features that you can’t seem to try even though you have the skills.  We will do this by learning ways to regulate the central nervous system, work the edges of your comfort zone to improve your overall riding, practice mindfulness and presence on and off your bike, and assess risk without letting old stories (aka previous crashes, insecurities, etc.) take over your ride.

Sara Hunter is a PMBIA Level 1 Mountain Bike Instructor and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC).  Sara has a counseling practice in Asheville in which she utilizes Adventure Therapy via mountain biking to support clients who are feeling stuck in complex trauma and anxiety.  Sara also supports mountain bikers through confidence coaching sessions on specific sections of trail that they continue to struggle with due to fear.

Registration and RSVP go live Tuesday, January 9 at 7 pm. This ride is open to all women.
